In August 2013, we were appointed as Head of Engagement for Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust – charged with designing and delivering the biggest listening exercise in its history.  Screen Shot 2014-11-03 at 15.58.24

Tameside Listens was grouped around 8 themes – each asking a fundamental question and inviting ideas and responses.

  • Supporting and Developing People
  • Promoting Compassion and Care
  • Listening and Responding
  • Ensuring Safety
  • Pursuing Excellence
  • Performing Brilliantly
  • Delivering Quality
  • Working in Partnership

We deisgned and delivered the following listening channels for the Tameside Listens exercise:

  • New Twitter, Facebook and Youtube channels
  • Mailshot to all 17,000 Trust Members
  • Response Form distributed across the Trust
  • Dedicated E-mail address
  • Mobile app (iphone and Android)
  • Survey Monkey survey
  • Meridian app
  • Dedicated phone line

Screen Shot 2014-11-03 at 16.06.27Tameside Listens analysed over 500 responses, including responses analysed from 70 posts on Patient Opinion. Each response was reviewed to see if a specific action was suggested or implied.

Only 4 suggested actions were rejected.  Over half suggested actions were new to the Trust.

The back-end business processes for existing listening processes used by the Trust were also mapped, with the aim of incorporating their outputs in a future fully integrated view of listening activities across the Trust

Tameside Hospital Chief Executive, Karen James, said of our work

“Tameside Listens was a great programme of work that we will now progress and align with our future engagement strategy. It was a pleasure working with you and I hope we will have the opportunity going forward of doing so again.”
